Working in a magazine jobs has proven to be something very favored among the range of women preoccupied in shaping a career, and as such many of them prefer working in editing, or photography or writer staff. This option is moreover favored since lately the online publications offer possibilities for women to work flexible hours allowing them to allocate more time to their children.

Many magazines have plenty of departments offering a variety of jobs where different skills are required, such as editing, graphic design, newsletter layout, photograph, writing, advertising, management, computer skills. Therefore women can opt for the sector they are qualified for and in this way being given the chance to build their career.

Some of the magazine jobs, such as editing or writing can require a college education. Along with these opportunities here is another one – sifting through jobs choosing magazines that have subjects that are of their interest (themes like these are covered almost in every magazine: home decor, finance, business, travel, fashion, parenting, gardening, fashion or any other topic of interest).

1. To apply for a magazine job you should build a detailed (to include all the education status) and very professional resume. In this respect you should have two formats – one to be used as online application and the other one to have it print for applying on person or by mail.

Any skills that prove having office work experience is important to be displayed although it didn’t have anything to do with the magazine work. Some legwork should be done as well to find out what are the things comprised in the job and if there is the opportunity to climb he career ladder in the future.

2. The next thing is to know how to keep the job once the career is secured. With hard work and meeting the deadlines can lead to success. The editors, designers, writers all have to achieve the required tasks on time for the final format of the magazine not to wait any longer.

Being a new comer in the team and to be sure that your position can be secured you need to show diligence with the smallest of the tasks and being willing to work extra hours as well.

3. Be willing to begin at the bottom in case you want to consolidate a long term magazine job. Even if you start as an editor’s assistance, for instance, you can never know how soon the opportunity can show for you to become a full editor. Another tip would be to start as a freelancer in writing or photographing before even getting hired as one of the employees position.

When looking for a job there is a certain stage that people most of the times fail in performing right due to a low qualitative presentation; it is all about the job application process. Down bellow some tips are described to allow you apply for the job with a qualitative job application that can be submitted anytime, anywhere!

1. Show that you have value – Put effort in making the job application one of your primary tasks. An employer will always look for the best person to get hired for the job as they will pay money for this and as such need the job to be well done.

Try to be in their place – it is exactly as you would do and react whenever you each to buy yourself a car or a piece of machinery that you pay for money and expect to work properly and/or efficiently. The person who proves to put some effort in this job application will be the one to show that he/she cares.

2. Make the covering letter in such a manner that it can sell your image – this is in fact what the potential employer sees firstly; therefore you need to maximize this opportunity for your application to end up in the “maybe” pile of applications instead of trash bin.

3. You have to ensure that the cover letter and the resume differ one from another – when presenting a recruiter the same document in different words is not something that the potential employer can be very impressed with. Thus you will need to present them something to continue reading instead of skipping the document ahead, which is not, by the way, a good sign.

4. When you edit, think of them and not of you – a recruiter is willing to know what is there that you can do for their company and not other way around! A useful advice would be to avoid the word “I” from the application. Too many individuals when applying focus around their person instead of centering the application around the needs of the employer.

5. Apply early for the job – do not postpone with the things up until the last minute. Writing a cover letter with a job application as soon as possible it will enable you to work more on it. The one you work on not in a hurry, but preparing it with weeks in advance will lead to a successful job application then the one written in a hurry the night before applying.

Changing the job is the conclusion that you reach out of several reasons but what is the most important is to truly determine if this move is the right one for you to do. You have to be very clear, as the future employer would be very eager to find out the reasons you have left the job for. Thus the impression that you create can depend a lot on your answers and your attitude towards being asked this questions.

The reasons you might have can be various, but it is possible that some of the following aspects to be included in your decision, therefore it is very important to ponder around them before you begin your new job search.

What do you think of your salary? Do you feel that you are not paid enough for the responsibilities you have or for the personal contribution you bring to the business? Or do you know about the existence of other companies that pay better in the same field you are working?

Anyway, the salary you get for your work has to be the most important thing to take into account. The fact that your company is small can not provide you the opportunity to climb the career ladder or maybe you are not offered the opportunities that you feel like deserving.

These opportunities are in fact the fuel that keeps the engine of motivation running they giving you the reason to reach for professional and personal improvement. This fact is important for your own satisfaction and well being when at work or another social environments.

If the challenge doesn’t exist any more and you already sense that there isn’t any more room for such opportunities to appear, then pretty soon the boredom will install and you will want to leave the job as soon as another option comes into view.

Considering that you spend a lot of time at work it is very important for you to enjoy the work environment and for some people this aspect cunts even more than the salary they receive. A company seen from inside is hard to reach at until you actually are an active daily part, and in this respect it would be a great idea to find out what this is like with the new job you apply for.

Other aspects can be as well the too long time that it takes for you to reach to work, stressful hours that add up to the time that you do not spend with your family or the beloved one.

When asked by the potential employer why you apply for the job you should be very clear about this aspect long before you reach for the interview. The success of the job application may depend a lot on the answer you come up with.

We are in times of crisis, job losses in the thousands and, unfortunately, nobody is really safe. If this situation affects you, you are able to rise quickly in the saddle, apply for new positions and succeed in winning that job that you will pass through. This fact can be quite long as you have been looking for a job, it is possible that you feel rusty, you lost the hand. I must say that I personally spend interviews from time to time to keep my reflexes and alerts keep me in shape, I recommend this practice, even if you’re happy with your current job. The purpose of this article is to prepare you for interviews. I drew on my personal experiences to develop a list of most popular questions that can be raised. Nobody likes the interview process. You must be at your best; the interview gives you the opportunity to sell yourself, and not everyone who has the verve and self-confidence to put forward.

However it is quite possible that some issues overlap. Whether in Britain, the United States or Canada, the questions do not really seem to change over time. Moreover, the expected answers are generally the same. Simply add your personal touch, of course.

Remember, control the time of the interview is an art, and if you prepare you put at least 85% of luck on your side.

Tell me about yourself

This question is one I find the less obvious. It is easy for the caller and lets you work 100% on the arms. The person in front of you have plenty of time to judge whether you are structured, organized, articulate, while sipping his coffee. It is probably the most common question, because it also serves as an introduction to the interview. Miss this door and the interview will start on the wrong basis. Be careful not to tell your life. You do not need any explanation from your birth to now! Talk instead of your diploma or your journey to school, your career and your current situation, in that order. Stay brief and focused.

Tell me what you know [company name]

Always do your homework before you go to an interview. Whatever position you are applying, as Vice President of Marketing or the clerk in the mailroom, you should know the salient facts about the company for which you want to work. This is the kind of research, substantive work that will make you look like someone who is ready, who is genuinely interested in the company and the answer you differentiate from the rest of the group.

Why do you work for [company name]?

This issue is directly related to the one above. Any research you’ve done on the company in question you should have led to the conclusion that you want to work there. After all, you have been selected for the interview! Include your career goals, explain that you suspect that your company will grow and improve yourself.

What would you bring to [company name]?

The assumption here is that you have applied for this position because you have lots of experience in the field, and if so, is your chance to discuss it. However, if you’re interested in the job because you want to change career direction, you want to try something different or you need a job really soon, this question will allow you to highlight your related experiences, this which will bring depth to your application.

If your former colleagues work here, what would they say about you?

The key here is to stay positive and show the best of yourself. A good way to present his response is to “quote” your colleagues, like this: They say that I am a “hard worker” or even better, “Many of my colleagues have always said that I was a person of team, which can always count I am also very quick to resolve problems.”

Where else have you applied?

This question may seem like a trick question, but you can easily turn it to your advantage. No way to answer that it’s nobody besides you! The answer you give that will help you prove that you are in demand. Be honest and mention a few other companies, without going into detail. Your partner simply wants confirmation that you are serious and that you keep your options open.

How do you react when you’re under pressure?

There are several ways to answer this question, but they should all be positive. You can work well under pressure, you can be happy under pressure, and you may also prefer to work under pressure. Do not provide details as an example! Better still do a bit more than what is requested (not excessively). If you make a face and say you collapse in a situation where the pressure is very high, you have every chance of ending your interview.

What motivates you to do a good job?

The answer is not money, even if so. You must prove that you are motivated by a life of hard and honest work. You want to get recognition for work well done. You want to become better at your job. You want to help others or be a leader in your field. This question is one of my favorite as a candidate because it is easy. Just give the answers that the caller wants to hear. And to which you belong, of course!

What is your greatest strength?

Here’s your chance to shine. You are invited to explain why you’re an excellent candidate for this job! You can be someone who works well under pressure, a great source of motivation for others, someone who has an incredible potential to solve problems quickly or someone very rigorous. The caller is looking for strengths related to work, make sure to stay focused on the issue in a professional setting.

What is your greatest weakness?

If you’re completely honest, you may regret the answer you give. Questions strengths and weaknesses are those that emerge consistently in an interview. If you say you have no weaknesses, obviously you’re lying and lose points (in addition to employment). This is an issue on which politicians excellent. Their responses are similar to “I’m perhaps too committed to my work and I do not spend enough time with my family.”Make sure you keep your feet on the ground because you might as well give a false image of you. If you ask this question, give a small defect-related work and you work hard to improve. Example: “I have already said that I tend to focus on detail and lacking in vision, so now I spend time each day to monitor the progress of the project as a whole to see where we are.

Ask questions to recruiter are strongly advised. This helps identify the position but also to show his determination and seriousness. But improvisation is dangerous. Here are some tips to look good.

The job interview is an exchange. If it allows the company to evaluate the candidates, is also a way for applicants to learn more about the company and the job.

Learn and timely,
Before he even met the recruiter, you may contact the company to request information. Annual Report to platelets business through a press, all records are good to familiarize yourself with your potential employer.

The D-Day, the attitude of the person you meet, in charge of recruitment for the human resources department or operational manager, you will soon know if the indisposing your questions or if you can talk openly. However, if there are many questions that the caller does not respond, it’s not very good sign.

Attention rules of politeness evidently require that you leave the recruiter time to complete presentation of the company or position without interruption. You’ll have time to rebound later in his remarks to show your interest.

Ask about the company
Ask questions and be proactive during the interview shows that you have spent time preparing for this meeting. It is a positive sign for the person who receives it. Some questions about evolution or the group’s results can therefore afford to earn points:

What are the strengths of the company in its market?

What role does international development strategy?

Launches of new products or services they are expected soon?

What are the prospects of the company in years to come?

If you always answers that everything is fine when the company loses money, then there is a problem.

Ask about the position
The questions are not only to do well and see the interview should especially help you as much that recruiter to determine if the post is for you.

So the timing to all questions may be your future employment. Any question can be used to inform the candidate. The interview is the time to obtain information that will make the right decision.

Many issues can be addressed, including the creation or replacement, responsibilities, opportunities for development …etc.

Why is this position available? Who held the post before me? Will it be possible to interview the person who held the position before?

Can I get in touch with people who have the same training as me in the company?

Who do I rely and which will depend on me?
This question is to know immediately if the service is well organized.

What is the company policy in terms of variable pay, wages, bonuses or changes ?
This general question on the compensation you will also bring the conversation about the proposed salary for the position. One topic is always difficult to address if this has not been done before by the recruiter.

What happened to the people who worked for the person who is my manager?
This is important because it helps to know if your prospective manager is a developer of talent and thus indirectly to anticipate your own potential for growth within the company.

What we can do and not to

Some techniques are aggressive and others downright dangerous.
Thus, you can bring your partner to talk about himself, his position and his career in business, it will flatter him. One limitation, however: he is bringing closeness with your recruiter, but not to advance the field of privacy!

Similarly, ask what time the office closed or how many days off this year. The goal remains to show motivation.

When shall we meet?

I am very interested in the job; do you know when you can give me an answer?

I must give answers to other offers, can you keep me fairly quickly that suites you plan to give to my application?

And if you still hesitate to intervene, nothing prevents you bring in a real situation by visiting one or two conversations without issue.
